Rationale
Personal, Social,Hhealth and Economic Education (PSHE) is a compulsory subject that aims to develop pupils’ knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work. At Newhall Park, we aim to provide this and give all pupils a view of how the world works outside the classroom, and how to put the skills they learn into practice.
At Newhall Park Primary School, we will be using a newly designed PSHE programme called The Story Project. This programme is designed to discuss and teach children about their wellbeing through stories. Each year group will get to read, discuss and complete work using a different book which related directly back to key themes;
- Being a Good Friend,
- Celebrating Families
- Looking after my Mind and Body
- Keeping Safe, Becoming a Global Citizen
- Growing Up
This programme is based on research and is constantly improving the lessons to help support the needs of our children in today’s world.
PSHE Vision
Mrs Khalifa ‘Physical, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education is designed to support children to gain a better understanding of the wider world. As PSHE Lead I love to witness our children grow into individuals who understand risk, regulate feelings and emotions, become open to different identities, understand responsibility, work to stay healthy and constantly aim higher to become the best versions of themselves. PSHE not only helps children as individuals, but the information taught also helps children become respected members of the wider community who are able to see right from wrong and make sound decisions in order to protect themselves and other.’
